At the end of the neighbor Valley of Machu Picchu, the provincial capital of Quillabamba extends along Urubamba River shores. It is located in “la ceja de selva”, in the Amazonian mountain forest, with a hot and humid climate but not really like the Amazonian one. It is this city which provides the entire Inca region with fruits and vegetables whose cultivation is difficult in altitude; coffee, tea, citruses, and everything goes out in camions full of products in direction to the low valley of Cusco. The main square, with its tall palm trees and its bright colored hibiscus, is the heart of a calm city in humid heat, at the jungle entrance.
